How to set up a Nest camera?

To begin, make sure you have a Google account and the Google Home app loaded.

Set up an account at accounts.google.com, then download the Google Home app from Google Play or the Apple App Store.

To add it to the Google Home app, scan the QR code on the front of your camera.

Place the QR code sticker in the Quick Start Guide after removing it. (Saving it will make it easy to re-set your camera if necessary. If you misplace the QR code, you may still add your camera by entering the setup code found under the camera’s base at the bottom.)

Placing your palm flat on the bottom of the camera, twist the base counterclockwise to remove it.

Take note of the setup code, then replace the base by twisting it clockwise until you hear it click into place. Now, without scanning, press Continue and input the code.

How to mount the camera on the wall?

First of all, you will need a wall screw. Depending on the type of wall surface, you may additionally require wall anchors.

If you intend to put your camera at a height of 6 1/2 feet, 2 meters, or higher, you must use the cable clip to hold the power wire in place.

The camera’s base serves as a wall plate, and you must use it to mount your camera to a wall.

  • Place your palm flat on the base and twist counterclockwise to remove it. 
  • Select a location that is 6 to 6 1/2 feet (1.8 to 2 meters) above the ground. At this height, several camera functions will operate optimally.
  • Make sure the screw holes on the wall plate are parallel to the ground. 
  • Make a mark for the screws.
  • Drill pilot holes with a 7/64-inch (three-millimeter) drill bit.
  • Use the supplied screws to attach the wall plate to the wall. 
  • If wall anchors are required, mark the location for each screw before drilling a hole for each anchor using a 1/4 inch or 6-millimeter drill bit or a masonry bit.
  • Tap the anchors in gently with a rubber mallet or hammer, then fix the wall plate with the supplied screws.
  • Now, in the app, follow the instructions to mount the camera to the wall plate.
  • Make sure the camera’s base is facing up, and the arrow is pointing up.
  • Then, rotate the camera head 180 degrees so that the power wire is at the top.
  • Pass the power cord through the wall plate’s gaps. 
  • Rotate the camera to the left, roughly 45 degrees, while holding the power cord in place. Then, position the camera’s base over the wall plate.
  • Gently push the camera on the wall plate and spin it clockwise until it clicks into place.
  • The bottom of the camera is placed 1/4 inch above the wall plate to allow for power cord adjustments.
  • Allow enough slack in the wire for the camera to swivel freely from side to side and up and down.
  • If you can’t move the camera up and down, you might need to remove it from the wall plate, spin it 180 degrees, then reconnect it.
  • Adjust your camera’s perspective to get the amount of detail you want. 
  • To keep the camera at the desired angle, you may need to slide the wire up or down within the wall plate.
  • If your camera is positioned at a height of 6 1/2 feet (2 meters), use the provided cable clip to keep the power wire in place. 
  • The cable clamps should be no more than 6 inches (15 cm) away from the camera. 
  • Depending on the type of wall surface, you may additionally need to utilize a wall anchor.
  • Allow some space in the cord so you can adjust the camera after it’s attached.
  • The status indicator on your camera will glow green when it is turned on or actively recording. The LED will pulse green when someone is watching the live video.
